Kinja'd!!!

A lone gunman rolled up on a cafe in Vaughn yesterday, just north of Toronto, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , killing a 25 year old man and a 47 year old mother of three adult children who worked at the cafe. That E36 cabrio is the woman’s car, in fact. The vehicle in the image above was his mode of escape.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

The media and the police have merely described this vehicle as a “dark compact car”. So Honda Fit, yes? First generation, circa 2007-2010?

UPDATE : Oppo’s considered opinion strongly identifies this as a 1st generation Nissan Versa Note in SL trim. This info has been forwarded to the York Regional Police.

No. It’s a Nissan Versa hatchback.

Looks like a Nissan Versa to me (2006-2013)

That’s a Nissan Versa, not a Honda Fit. First generation applies there, though.

Nissan Versa, no doubt about it.

“dark compact car”

If police descriptions of people were this criminally vague, there’d be no black people left alive in North America within a week.

//first I saw a Focus, but agree with Versa

Those wheels also, so it doesn’t look like it’s a stripper model.

This might be an SL model since I can see what appears to be a spoiler on the back.

Yes it would, and I think on the back there is a spoiler if you look closely.

*EDIT* Did Nissan offer an appearance or sport package on SR and higher trims?

This blue example appears to have some factory body kit on it.

Nissan Versa, as mentioned above. Instantly recognized it.

For fuck’s sake, can I get a job just identifying cars for police reports? Versas are so common that it seriously boggles my mind that they couldn’t identify it. They seriously need to make vehicle identification a part of the training. Just tell them to pay close attention to cars around town for a week or two, then show them ten real surveillance images and ask them to identify the car. If they’re correct on at least 8, they pass. Otherwise, it’s another week of studying traffic.

As everyone already said, it’s a Versa. But seriously, how hard was this? Granted, we know cars, but isn’t there at least, oh I don’t know someone in that damn precinct that knows anything about cars? I knew what it was within 5 seconds of looking at it. I can't be alone.

Depends where you are. My area’s so “progressive” that descriptions are limited to “youths”. The comments of every news article alternate between My Cousin Vinny references to yutes, and jokes about the Amish striking again.
